I think Kijiji is best for shoppers that really know the topic or product they are searching for. So if you know winter tires or tires in general, you can save a lot of money on Kijiji. You’ll know the size, type and use left that you’ll get out of the tire including how to find any damage being a used tire.
Now If You Don’t Know Much About Winter Tires, Then Go To Someone That Does.
Personally, I know the basics about tires but had a few questions and wanted a one stop solution. I wanted to buy my winter tires in calgary, pull into the shop, have they installed and be able to know where to go back to if I had any issues.
And of course, I didn’t want to get hosed on price buying my winter tires and I didn’t want to travel outside Calgary to get them. (if you don’t mind travelling outside Calgary to get your tires, that is a whole different article).

I think that’s pretty amazing stuff and on top of that, the tires are regularly on special.
Which brings us to price. When I bought my winter tires at Canadian Tire on Richmond Road in Calgary, I caught the tail end of a special and saved myself almost $300 from thier regular price. You can phone them or look up the flyer online to see if there are any winter tire specials on or coming up to time your purchase to save the most money.
While I saved almost $300 over the regular price of winter tires at this Calgary Canadian Tire, I saved on average a WHOPPING $600 compared to the other big name tire chain stores in Calgary. Seriously, I’ve been looking for a couple of months and I was always quoted between $600 and $1200 for the ″most affordable, general use winter tires.″ I didn’t even look at the higher end winter tires.
If you are in Calgary it’s a great idea to start looking for the winter tire specials now. Do it now before the snow hits and you can take your time to find the best deal. If you wait, you might be forced to pay too much or worst of all, find your local Calgary stores out of stock on winter tires as everyone makes the mad dash after a storm.
One last tidbit. Guess who the only store that is open on Sunday to install your winter tires in Calgary (during my search)? You guessed it. Canadian Tire. I woke up on a Sunday morning, saw they had tires on special and they were the only store that was OPEN on sunday let alone that could get my truck in on the same day. No appointment needed, but you should go early morning.
